Port Arthur is the most pitiless prison in Australia. At first I thought, Port Arther would be a dirty place with a bad smell and a bad view. I didn’t understand why they wanted us to go. But what I thought was actually wrong. Port Arther is a place where the English prisoners lived. It was like an isle surrounded by a very dangerous sea. It is quite a gorgeous place, besides the scratches of how cruel the Prison warders were.

My friend and I went there on a cruise in Tasmania, Australia. We were very excited. On that day the weather was pretty nice. We got on a school bus and it took about 2 hours. A guide was telling the information you needed to know like where would the cruise stopped and How long would it take. I was deciding if I should buy new sunglasses but I was taking too long. We had to get on a bus to go to the shore, so I didn’t buy them. At the shore we put some parachutes and rain coats on. After that we got on a cruise. My seat was the third row from the front.
We saw real dolphins. They swam very close to our cruise. What I like the most is when a big swell came, the driver went on that swell and jumped down. It felt like the boat was flying. That was really fun.

We arrived at Port Arther at noon. After we had lunch, we toured Port Arther. Our guide was a big lady. Her voice was really complicated, so I asked my friend’s billet what the guide was talking about. She told me the big palace (she pointed at it) was a place where nobleman lived. About 2,000 convicts died to build it. Furthermore, convicts worked about 8-24 hours a day. Anytime the convict stopped working, the prison warders hit them hardly. They couldn’t even escape because if they tried to by the sea, there were sharks and they would have to swim for more than 2 kilometers. if you stayed on land, there was no food for you. At that time the medical services weren’t good enough to heal these people’s injuries, and finally they died. From that, Australia decided to cancel this kind of punishment. Congratulations to the convicts. Then, England used this place for vacation but there was a big storm and they failed. Eventually, they improved this place to be a tourist attraction!
Travelling to this place was quite fun. I think it is the most interesting and fun place to visit overall. If you have a chance to visit, go there. You will keep talking about it for a long time.
